Someone tell me if I'm crazy, but I think Dana Barros will get his career
back on track again this year for the Boston Celtics. I think he'll stay
in Boston and have a good year. Hell, he might even start in the beginning
of the year (Pitino probably doesn't want to throw 2 rookies on the floor
as the
> backcourt). I think he could average like 15 a game 4 or 5 assists.
That's a far cry from the 20 something he averaged in Philly, but he's not
THE MAN in Boston like he was in Philly. Am I nuts???
I think if Barros stays healthy he might be helpful now that we can play
him at the 2 because we have a decent sized point. Hopefully he can be a
Vinnie Johnson type off the bench. But for $3M+ a year we should be
getting more. I still would prefer to see him moved in a package for a
Jayson Williams or some other big man, or shooting 3 if Fox does not
return. I also like packaging Williams, Barros & next years #1 for Baker
or McDyess, or waiting until next year and make a serious move for Rasheed
Wallace.
If we could move Minor, Brown or Barros for a 3 or 4 we could add another
bench scorer like Dedric Willoughby, Reggie Freeman or Seals. Has anyone
heard anything on why these guys dropped out of the draft ? I saw a lot of
Willoughby and he looked real good and plays with a lot of heart.
I would be willing to bet that barring any unforeseen trades, both Billups
& Mercer will be the starting backcourt on opening night. We don't have
anyone that is going to beat them out. These guys have a lot of talent.
