RE: WALKER, ETC.

Anyone know anything about an Evan Eshemeyer form Northwestern ? I think
he is in the top 10 in scoring and rebounding at something like 23pts/13.5
rebounds a game.

In truth, I'll bet he's averaging at least 20 fg attempts per game. I
know that not even MJ is perfect but this is way too high a number of
shots for him to take when they're not falling for him. I think what he
needs to prove is that when his shots aren't falling, he's smart enough
to outquick his defender to the hoop, or box his man out properly and dig
in defensively to help the C's win. These are all things that I've seen
him do before, so I know he's capable, but having the freedom to do what
he wants, when he wants, is not conducive to team basketball. How was
Billups or any other Celtic for that matter, supposed to feel when he
realized that his captain elected to dribble the ball instead of passing
it when a teammate was open and ahead on the break?

If we want to see a running game, these are the kinds of fundamentals
which must be demanded, not asked. Red would have sat him, which RP did
in a game earlier this year.

On another note, last night's game showed just how sadly lacking we are
for a big man. Some of us have been talking about Jayson Williams, but
he went to the hospital last night after sustaining a back injury, though
tests proved negative. I like Lorenzen Wright and Stewart, but am
concerned about who we would relinquish in return. What about Loren
Woods from Wake Forest? He looked awfully good last year when he was
teamed with "Dunkin". Does anyone have an update on his play so far this
year?
