Recently with the Celtics, Hornets, and attempting to sign their way
into contention, the question that comes to mind is, "Who'd you get?"
In the Eastern Conference the three teams have gotten themselves in a
position to challenge the Bulls next year by signing some of the
bigger names on the free agent market.

Boston, who has had one of the busiest summers in recent memory, have
signed six free agents this summer. Some of the key acquisitions are
Andrew DeClerq, Tyus Edney, Travis Knight, and the most recent, the
former Cavalier Chris Mills. With such a large influx of players the
Celtics have had to cut their roster down greatly, waiving 10 players
from last years tea They have also lost David Wesley to free agency,
and just traded Eric Williams to Denver for future draft picks.

The Pistons signed Brian Williams last week but lost Terry Mills to
free agency. This doesn't pose that big of a problem to the Pistons
since they have Theo Ratliff to grow into his place. With the former
Bull the Pistons think they have finally found their "man in the
middle". CN: and the Pistons recently came to terms with former LA
Clippers shooting guard, Malik Sealy, to supply additional backcourt
   depth).

The Hornets believe they have their backcourt of the future in Bobby
Phills, and David Wesley. Both of whom have all-star potential and
should prove to be a deadly combination. After playing with one of the
games best last year Phills gets another chance to matchup with yet
another great point guard. With a starting line up of Vlade Divac,
Anthony Mason, Glen Rice, Bobby Phills, and David Wesley, I don't know
I don't know how even Phil Jackson let alone Dave Cowens could screw
   that up.

As teams scramble to fill needs in their team by dipping into the free
agent pool, the contenders just sit back and watch. Will all this
money being spent on these players really make a difference in the
outcome of this year? Will the question "Who'd you get" mean that much
after next year is over? Probably not, but after the disassembling of
the Bulls all of these teams will be waiting in the wings to challenge
   for the title of Champion.
