Grant signs

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Free-agent forward Brian Grant, formerly of Sacramento,
signed a seven-year, $63 million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers
on Saturday.

My division is rusty, but last time I checked, that was $9M a year !

$9M for a 15/10 guy ! And we thought Dino's 5M was outrageous .

I know why RP looked the other way. When are these owners going to learn ?

The Blazers also re-signed center Chris Dudley to a one-year deal. There
had been speculation in recent days that the Trail Blazers would re-sign
Dudley and then trade him to an Eastern Conference team.

Grant's contract, which makes him the highest paid player on the team, also
includes an opt-out clause after the third year, agent Mark Bartelstein
said.

To clear salary-cap room, the Blazers renounced their rights to veteran
forward Clifford Robinson and guards Rumeal Robinson, Mitchell Butler and
Marcus Brown.
