Paraphrasing the Minor article.

Rick Pitino: Minor has been defrauded by his now ex-agent. His ex-agent
took his fee up front, and Greg spent his money unwisely and is now in a
financial shambles.

The ex-agent, Frank Elmore, is hot!

The Agent: Everything you say is untrue, Rick! Okay, fine! You're right!
Greg did pay his fee up front! SO????? It was less than the league
average because I'm a nice guy! Only $300,000. What do you mean Greg
spent his money unwisely?

2 new houses (for a single guy...), at least one of which cost $185K
New cars (for a single guy)
$40,000 lost in that overhyped house purchase for Celestyne Rowan that he
reneged on.
$70,000 in Escrow for child support

Minor made $1.9 mil last year. Uncle Sam probably took half of that, so
let's say that Minor took home $900K last year.

$900K - $300K - $350K (2 houses) - $50K (guess on two cars for a young stud
with way too much cash) - $110K (house deal and Escrow) - $30K/month child
support = umm, ummm, ya know, it looks like Greg may indeed be out of
money after all Frank! And while real-estate purchases are more fiscally
responsible than, let's say, a gambling or drug problem, it's still money
that's gone.

But HEY! He's going to make $2.16 mil _this_ year... Yes that's useful now.

Frankly, I'm sick of Peter May. The Celtics have been one of the more
active teams this summer in a basketball sense, but all Peter May can do is
hear a Pitino comment about Minor, then go directly to Frank Elmore and
prod him with it.

It's like Minor is the one Celtic left that May can bash. Brown and Barros
are covered by Pitino. No one at all is going to mess with the draft picks
or Walker/Williams, and heaven forbid there be any serious concern about
the half-assed, expensive and long-term contracts being tossed around like
rag-dolls.

Hey, if all goes well, Pitino will do what he has always done; take a team
of underachievers and make them better than anyone ever thought possible.
There will be no injuries. Walker will be an All-Star. Williams will be a
20+ scorer. Billups and Mercer will be Co-Rookies of the year (anyone see
how Duncan is struggling at the Rocky Mountain Revue?), and the C's will
take the Bulls to 7 in the second round after upsetting the Heat in the
first, capping off a spectacular 24-6 finish to the regular season after
the All-Star break to sneak into the 7th playoff seed.

Hey, don't get me wrong. Minor's battery of Rowan, and his reported
resistance to the treatment proscribed, are all bad things. But May just
goes so far out of his way to be a jerk, to dredge up garbage, that it
pisses me off.

Have a great weekend, C's fanatics.
