HAHA!!!  Where are the LA Times researchers buying
their CDs?  The only CDs for sale at $12 are on 25%
off sale.  The cheapest new CDs I ever see at any CD
store (including Best Buy) are $15.  Hell, old Who CDs

like By Numbers and A Quick One are selling at $15 at
Best Buy.>>

I was badly spoilt by the great cheapie music stores
back in Amherst (and Northhampton).  The highest I
ever paid for a CD in any of their stores was $17.84
(including tax) for IH at Newberry's, and that might
have been because I had to specially order it since it
wasn't in the store (and I'd waited a long time for it
to show up and it didn't do it on its own; it ended up
being my last Who studio album I bought, kind of
fitting since it was their last too).  Most of the CDs
I got in Amherst were between eight dollars and
$11.99.  The most expensive CDs I bought in that town
were Quad, at $16 in the vintage music store, WN for
$15.99, the abovementioned IH, the boxed set at $35
plus tax, and the White Album at $29.95.  I wish all
towns could have such nice music stores that don't
charge exhorbitant amounts for CDs and also spoil the
music-buying population.

It doesn't matter much to me anymore though; all of
the music purchases I've made for a very long time
have been vinyl and I have no desire to go back to CDs
other than playing the ones I've already got.  I can't
wait to make the rounds of the vinyl store here and
the one back in Amherst once my leg heals (next month
sometime maybe?).
