Re: Pete: "Free But Branded"

I hope Pete knows that quite a few of us "right-minded
people" in the U.S. as well as the U.K. will not paint
him as a sex offender. Many different factors led to
his current predicament, a good many of them
honorable.

But we cannot hope for the same nuanced view from the
media or child abuse victims groups. And in the case
of the latter, I don't think it will help anything to
"go after them" with letters. They know FIRST HAND
the trauma of the acts depicted in the site that Pete
PAID to access. To them that is enough, nothing can or
should mitigate it.

I feel for Pete in his message. The branding thing,
the sex offender registry, the travel ban, it all
SUCKS. But the fact remains he played with fire and
got burned. Actions have consequences, and when it
comes to this area of amoral and criminal activity,
even good intentioned actions can rear up and bite
back hard.

Right now my feelings are more akin to grief than
anything else.
