It's really strange.
I feel like Pete's either losing it, or playing a game here.
Either way, it's totally off the tracks.

I really do too.  I just can't help but think that Pete is losing it a bit.  
"Buzzing" in his head is not a good thing.
He needs silence and tranquility.

That's a good way to put it.
I'm feeling pretty uncomfortable for him too.
But, to me, it seems contradictory to use the research excuse, and then not follow through by using the spot light to further the cause.
In a way (this may get me in trouble), by retreating to his studio in seclusion with tight lips, he's painting an image of the sort of person who *would* wallow in internet porn.

I'm at a loss, and hurt for the man.
The ring is there to grab.  I just don't understand why he won't.
