You said everything in your subject line.  Pete is always high-maintenance.  
Like the decision to continue the tour, this is something to expect of 
him--part of his spiritual journey.  He can't write what he does without 
experiencing the pain of humanity, so have confidence in his innocence.  
"Damaged goods" slides right off of innocence--you can't make it stick.

What's more worrysome is that Pete might pick up some really dangerous 
stalkers out of this.  There's a strong element of violence associated with 
suspicion of sex offense.  I hope this incident makes people think twice 
about it, but still there are going to be some crazies out there.
