Its a bit of a stretch to blame this on the media or
the police.  After all, Pete was the one who visited
the web site and entered his credit card details to
access it.  If he had not done that his name wouldnt
have shown up on the list provided to the UK police by
the FBI and he would not have been vulnerable to the
ensuing leak of this information to the press.  

One could complain about the police and the press
(specifically the Daily Mail and The Sun), having
compromised an ongoing police investigation by
divulging privileged information.  And of course one
could complain about the various reports that
inaccurately stated that he had downloaded images. 
The AP retracted this story promptly.  For the most
part the press, especially the tabloids, has been
pretty restrained in their treatment of Pete.  The Sun
even gave him a platform on Jan. 12th in which he
stated he thought his reputation on the topic would
spare him the attention of authorities. 

Lets face it, he put himself right in the cross-hairs
on this, however honest his intent.
