Scott,
I will, and I have done this. Actually, nobody taught me the banana example.
I thought about it when I was a kid and you're the first person I've ever
told that thought to. Whether it was genetically helped by man to make them
better tasting or not, it was still created originally. The basic plant was there
to breed. The one in Genesis tasted good however, because it was created
before the fall of man in it's original form. From this, we get the genes to breed
what we now have today. As the bible records, pickers, thorns, and thistles
came after the fall and the earth was cursed so as to not bring forth it's full
strength and man was charged to work hard due to this curse. There *is* a
curse. Anyhow, without splitting hairs, my point with the banana is to show one
example that things are created for the enjoyment and nourishment other
things, man being the top created being by far. -They're much better tasting than
rocks.
It's kind of like breeding flowers or dogs to get different results such as
color and temperament. But flowers never become dogs; and never has this been
proven. Man cooperates with God and was charged by God to rule over what God
created. The bible says this and this is what happens today. This explains why
we can do this genetic engineering and apes cannot, nor can any other animal.
Man is indeed special. Can this be denied? It's not being "proud" to state a
fact. I am what I am.
I never scoff at something that is proven. This doesn't negate anything in
the bible, but rather supports it.
Not only are people ignorant of science, the vast majority are ignorant of
what's *really* in the bible. The problem is ignorance. Heck, most people think
that believers go to heaven when they die!
Pete has some spiritual sense. He wants to seek truth and reality and see
things made right. I love his curiosity. When ours' stops, we will truly be
"old."
