Re: Nirvana and Their Influence...?
"Nirvana was huge because it was a fresh change from the norm and that's
all."
I feel somewhat the same way about Nirvana but I don't think it was *just* a
change from the norm.
Reading through some of the excerpts of Cobains journal and his lyrics he
really did have a passion inside him. I'm not calling him a literary genius
or calling him John Lennon but he wrote what he felt I guess. Don't know
how else to put it.
For many people my generation Nirvania was the first band we could really
"get into" or "Identify with". Nirvania was the first CD I ever bought.
For the '60's '70's generation do you remember the first record you ever
bought. What about the first concert you ever went to? Do you still listen
to them? Do you put thier music on a higher plane then most others?
The first concert I ever went to was Our Lady Peace
(http://www.ourladypeace.com they rock! Listen to them!) I put thier music
on a higher plane right up there with The Who, PJ, Nirvana, SM etc.
If Cobain didn't have a passion for his music we wouldn't be talking about
him today. I think that's what sets bands apart from the others. Bands
like *shudders* Creed all the teenie bopper pop fluff just put out song
after song, album after album only to line thier pockets. You would think
people would see thorugh this so the badns that do have a passion for msuic
(You know the ones that play at the local bar down the street) get some
recognition.
Long live rock,
