Pete Townshend's Ferrari won't f-fade away

A rock star who smashed his guitars on stage may not
be a second-hand buyers ideal careful owner but
this Ferrari 400i convertible is special not only
because it was owned by Pete Townshend of the Who.
The car, which is for sale at British Car Auctions at
Blackbushe airport, Surrey, tomorrow from 1pm, is one
of 12 400i Spiders commissioned in the 1980s by London
dealer H R Owen, which had the flagship Ferrari
coupis roof replaced by an electrically operated
hood. Townshend acquired this metallic blue model,
which has a 4.8 litre V12 engine, in 1981 and kept it
for five years.

BCA estimates that the rare four-seat soft-top will
fetch #22,000-#25,000.
