A local band from around here called DINK (Kent, Ohio) got signed 
to Columbia Records about 5 years ago.  They made an album & got 
to open up for KMFDM (I think) on a European tour.

Since then, the band has broken up & all the members are in debt with 
Columbia because the sales of their album didn't meet forecasted levels
in the contract.  Ouch!

So, those big companies may give you a record deal, but if your shit 
doesn't sell they're still gonna get some money out of you.  Nice, huh?
