This surprises me. I've always thought the drums were pretty loud
within the mix. What about "The Rock?" They're loud as hell in that
song!

The drums may be a bit low in "Love, Reign O'er Me" but wasn't
that song one of the two they recorded first - to test out the sound?

I have noticed that the remastered MCA CD adds some echo to
the drums (& some of the vocals, too) which tends to dilute them a
little. But they still sound plenty loud to me.

And *I'm* not longing for a remixed QUAD. The worst thing about
the original was the low Daltrey vocals in spots, but that was mostly
corrected when the reissue came out.

I even remember one critic saying it was easily the best-sounding
of all the CD reissues.

Maybe your ears are shot from all those Who shows you attended
in the 60's & 70's. :-)
