RES: RES: new album sales

Rich,

30YMRB and L@L are a quite different issue. No one, and most of all MCA,
would not put money to promote the back catalogue, right? If it sells a
few thousand copies, that's ok. You're dealing with material that has
been sold for decades.

A new album after 20 years would give the press a great story and so on.
A "come-back marketing campaign" would be handy for everyone, the Who,
MCA (or any other label), media and us, audience. Made my point?

Hugs,

I doubt it. What marketing was done for the Boxed Set? What
marketing was done for the 30 yrs. video? What marketing was done for
the L@L remaster/re-release (either the first one, or the second one)?

They didn't do diddly as far as I could tell. I'm a huge fan and if I
hadn't been on these mailing lists I'd have NEVER HEARD ABOUT IT. The
'classic rock' station here plays Zeppelin and Floyd until you're so
sick of it you could puke, but they won't even return my emails when I
ask them if they are getting anyone together to attend the 2000
shows.

MCA has dissed our boys for decades and I don't see any sign that will
change.
