Re: Video Notes

Thanks for the info on the shows. A few folks may have written to AMC to request more Who content--they used The Who in their ad for the film festival but then had nothing in the schedule--it's too bad they didn't schedule TKAA, for example.

What's that about the Jones Beach video? Is this an official release or a bootleg for sale in the magazine?

**Just a reminder, American Movie Classics (AMC) is having a
Labor Day-1970's decade Rock Weekend (thru Sunday), with a number of
ilms - but no Who (oddly) - but many other key 70's films (Gimme Shelter,
Ziggy Stardust.., Last Waltz, etc). Tonight, they DID have Who content as
they screened their own 70's rock ducumentary narrated by David Bowie
featuring those films and other notables along with some of the less
regarded pics (anybody remember "Thank God It's Friday" or "Can't Stop
the Music"? For those who just did -- sorry:)... blech...

Anyway, Quadrophenia got as much screen time as any movie profiled (with
lots of Real Me), and probably more than Tommy received. 200 Motels (w/
Keith Moon) also got some screen time. It repeats on AMC Sunday Night
at 6pm (eastern).

**Also, I guess the satellite TV network Trio also had a rock thing going in
August -- many rock movies too, and it aired the Woodstock Diaries doc. in
full which has a couple extra hours of key Woodstock performances not in the
regular film including the Who's full MG/ finale (sorry about the
"after-the-fact-ness" but I had only stumbled on it myself while surfing
channels!). Yeah, yeah...... men don't wanna know what's ON tv, they want
to know what ELSE is on tv.....

** It appears -- and also by a national video dealer's ad in the latest
Goldmine -- that the Jones Beach 2000 Pro Shot video has surfaced.....

Later,

Quad Todd
