Pino Yawnadino

Why are so few here willing to speak the truth about Pino? He's not right for
the job. It's not just his ridiculous lack of volume (ironically violating
the sole request publicly made to him by Pete), it's his style, which is
exactly the kind of style that the Ox started laying to waste in 1964. Like
Simon, he doesn't get in the way, but The Who's bottom demands much more than
that. Jack Bruce, Yossi Fine, Muzz Skillings, Bootsy Collins, or Doug Wimbish
would be much better choices (not to mention Tony Butler or Chuchu Merchan if
it has to be someone "in house"). And Fine could approximate John at least as
well as Zak approximates Keith. Speaking of Zak, I saw the 1st MSG show and
he had noticeably less fire than in 2000. That's because he no longer has
John driving him. The right bassist will definitely improve Zak's drumming as
well.
