RE: Thoughts n comments - drummers, techniques, converntions, soundtracks, n leaps

In digest V9 # 117 there were a number of topics that I'd like to make
comments to:

Drummers - Moon v Bonham .........AEB, God, did you get it right with your
remarks about Bonham, IMHO, you hit the nail ont he head. Bonham to was
always a "thumper" lacking in great finesse or technique. In all the years
I've been going to concerts I've only even fallen asleep through sheer
boredom at two of the - a) Mike Oldfield, obviously and b) Led Zeppelin @
Alexander Palace, London '71 during Bonhams drum solo, so, so, so, so
boring.

On how they're recorded I can't say more than I've already said. I know
Glyn mikes the kit up with as few mics as possible and will also use
"contact" mikes around the room on the wall, floor and ceiling, I belive
that the "knack" actually lies more in WHERE mics are placed and how far
away / close to the sound dource. Personally, and most listees know this
already, I think Glyn's drum / production sound is just right for MY ears.

Convention - Yep, I'd be up for another WHO convention somewhere in the UK,
or maybe even Amsterdam!

Soundtracks - I've seen a lot of comments either on this list or Oddsnsodds
about Who songs on sound tracks adverts. I haven't seen anyone mention
"Baba O'Riley" in the movie Fever Pitch, perhaps it didn't make it the
States as it's about soccer. Decent enough movie but the scene with Baba
playing is excellent.

Leaps - like many older Who fans I'd also like to see PT doing his leaps n
slides, especially at the end of WGFA but I don't expect him to and
certainly think he's not likely too either, not at his age - with or without
kneepads. It's just fantastic to see them playing again and to see / hear
PT really stretching his playing abilities and skills.
