RE: I consider myself a good neighbor

Hi Kevin,

Try to listen to Townshend's first (official)solo album "Who Came First"
especially the last two tracks (I'm referring to the old vinyl copy). I
know that the last track is a beautiful prayer that I've used on occassions
to soothe me in times of trouble and pain and grief.

I can't claim, thankfully, that I knew personally anyone who has been
killed. But, I have an immense sense of loss because the one city, New
York, that I could honestly say I love more than anywhere else has been
violated. I've spent enough time there to feel that I knew it, that I'd
felt it's soul, now I'm fearful that all of that is going to be swept away,
forever. If the events of Tuesday haven't already done that.

Now's the time when we should all being pulling together - no matter our
race, colour, creed or religion. Surely, if four mis-matched blokes (our
heroes) with differing ideas can manage to survive together in one way or
another since the early sixties then the list members here can all pull
together despite our differing ideas / views / races / religions / creeds /
cultures, can't we? They're not perhaps the greatest role models but they
have something extra special for all of us or else we wouldn't be here,
would we?

NM

To Quad Dave:
I'm deeply sorry that the article I posted, "America the good neighbor", has
allowed your anger and resentment toward Americans to surface like this.
I'm having a real tough time understanding your motivation.
I think it's *you* who is missing the whole point. And it's *you* who keeps
distorting the conversation back to (interpretation) "why weren't American's
there to fight with the English?" *That* is one whole different creature
from "Americans gave HUGE amounts of money to help it's friends re-build.

I'm really disappointed with this list at the moment. I don't want to read
anymore.
I've been up with my sister most of the night calming her in her loss of 3
of her best friends who all worked for Cantor Fitzgerald. Watching one of
her best college friends (a person I looked up to and admired and at one
time wanted to work for) Howie Lutkin (CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald - the same
company that lost *700* people!!!!) being interviewed last night by Connie
Chung (and again on NBC) just ripped me apart.
There are sooooooo many, many, many people in such dire pain at the moment.

This list used to be a haven. Right now it is contributing to my pain.

I don't get you all, at all, at the moment.
People with conspiracy theories............you're fucked up. Do you hear
me???? I'm telling you to your face, YOU ARE FUCKED UP!
People who want to put the US down right now...........you're fucked up.
People who feel it is ok to insult others right now...............you're
fucked up (maybe that includes me).
I don't want to associate with you............right now.

I want to thank those who are silent at the moment.
I also want to thank Schrade in Acron for his attempts at showing many of
you some sanity by trying desperately to lighten things up.
Scott, you always seem to know just what to say. And, I always seem to be
feeling the same as you.

Come on everyone. Please. I'm begging you. Don't make this all worse.
