1830 NY Time

Just about to head off to Madison Square Garden to do the benefit show. The
Who go on around 9.00 pm. Yesterday was rather special for me in many ways.
Keith Richards showed up to play guitar with Mick on 'Salt of the Earth' and
it made me cry because it was so great to see them both together again - but
also happy that I didn't have to attempt to pretend to be Keef myself.

For a moment I was going to play with David Bowie too (standing in for Edge
who dropped out), but he is opening the show - I didn't realise when I
agreed to join him - and I decided it would be better to concentrate on my
big Who entrance. Sad really. I'm still a company man it seems. Typically,
David was big about it.

It was good yesterday too to see Macca. Been a family friend for a long
time, talking to him was tricky though because he was being filmed and was
radio wired for sound.

I'm looking forward to the event tonight. We will do what we normally do.
Zak is playing great and with him as the main engine I can be as slack as I
like. I weigh 195 pounds tonight, don't get in my way.
