Anyone buying a DVD player at this point should make sure it plays burned
CDs (many don't, and  if it plays burned CDs then it also plays burned DVDs)
and has a digital output compatible with their system (if you want Dolby
5.1, that is). I recently upgraded to a Pioneer DV-343 which met my needs,
and it was only $150 at Circuit City (and you can buy it online if you
wish).

Substitutes isn't bad at all; if you're at BB you can get it for $14 (I did)
and it's well worth that. And while we're on the subject, I just discovered
another Who cover by a band called Geoff Moore & The Distance (the CD is
called Threads, and came out in 1997), which has a pretty good version of
I'm Free kicking off the album.
