Zola Turn from Burlington, VT USA

  Just gotta share.......
Sitting out on my now plexi-glass insulated screened porch this past Sunday
with our friends from down the road, having returned from the annual
"Huntington Hunter's Breakfast" (It's hunting season don't cha know, and the
local Baptist church kicks out the most killer breakfasts for hunters and
others who just like to eat good grub).
The female from this couple, Julia, is the bassist for a very good local
band called Zola Turn (sister is lead guitar and singer/songwriter).
So, were chattin' it up, and Julia suddenly turns to me (like, 'holy shit, I
forgot to ask you this!!') and asks if I saw the Concert for NY on VH1 last
month (Julia's been out of town recording a new CD)(oh yeah, and she knows
I'm a Who Nut).
My reply was, "are you fucking kidding me?? Of Course I saw it."
She began to rave about The Who. Statements like, "they clearly stole the
show", and "I wanted them to keep playing" just about had me out of my seat
hugging her. Further statements of "man, that was one of the most emotional
sets I've ever seen" had me confirming my feelings and looking at my wife
like "see, see, it's not just me". Questions like "who was that drumming?"
had me going into the history of the last tour, which she missed!!!!
When they left (hey, much winter preps to get finished before the snows
return), they left with BIG smiles and my copy of IOW and a 2000 tour show.
Can't wait to hear their review.

If interested, below is the link to Zola Turn's web site.
This band really rocks. Highly recommend their last CD "Ninja Jane".

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the wife and I caught CAKE in Montreal last
Sunday. As expected, a great show despite the mostly French speaking crowds
repeated statement of "Sheeps" for plural Sheep ("Sheep-s go to heaven,
Goats go to hell"). The singer even stopped the singing to say "It's Sheep,
not Sheeps by the way".
Pretty funny.

Anyway.

Stay in Tune,
Kevin in VT
