I really don't want to sound like Fang here, but it might be safest to take
Astley's statements, especially Astley's statements filtered through
Charlesworth, with a grain of salt if not an entire box of Morton's.

Astley, as you know says he replaced Phillips drum track with his own. I'll
go with that on the album notes but we've yet to hear from Philips on the
subject. Like so many things Who related, I can only tell you so much
because I wasn't there and no one I trust implicitly was there.
