Re: worst concert experience

I went to that 1982 Philly show...my first concert. But, I was lucky. At
the time, I had a cousin who worked for Madison Square Garden and the NY
Knicks. She pulled out six tickets for my friends and I. At 18 years old
there was no way my mother was going to let me stay out overnight to get
tickets.

I have a boot of it...interested? Not that great, but very nostalgic.

Good show, of course. Bad venue. For those of you who never went to the
late JFK Stadium, you did not miss much. It is an old football stadium
with bench seating. The bathrooms were woefully inadequate and typically
for big shows, the toilets would get backed up...enough said. Plus,
tickets were issued by Ticketron...the tickets were easy to copy. So, for
a concert that listed 90,000 in attendance, I bet it was more like
120,000.

I saw the last show ever at JFK...the Dead in 7/7/89. Great week by the
way; the WHO played at Veterans Stadium (next to JFK) 7/9 and 7/10 (I
think those are the right dates). It was condemned about a week after the
Dead show. Why did it take so long. It was torn down and now it is the
sight of the First Union Center.

Sorry to get off track. A little Philadelphia history.
