Re: All and all it's just another brick in the well

And all American black music back to white? They were co-mingled from the
beginning. There was no blues, gospel or jazz in Africa in 1860. They're
all something that evolved here, and they're subject to influence by the
different ethnic groups that emigrated.

There's still a folk tradition in the US, and it's not related to country
that I can see. I'm talking about Dylan/Baez/Peter, Paul and Mary type
folk, and I still hear it around now and then, mostly in the storyteller
tradition. It's completely ignored by radio, VH1 and MTV, of course.

>We screw up everything, don't we? Anyway, early Blues (as in Ledbelly and

Do you think black gospel sounds like Ledbelly/Johnson blues? R&B, yes.
That's definitely from black Gospel, but I don't much hear of that sound in
straight blues.

Doesn't sound like the right spot. It was a "wah-uh-wah" sound that Berry
wanted Richards to play, and Richards would rush it, so he only got a
"wah-uh" sound. Never did get it right, technology or no.

Do you think Clapton is an imitator? Or has he materially added to the body
and technique of blues music?
