growing from five members to nine, after the state House of Representatives
passed a bill Wednesday allowing it to expand...
...Last year was a rocky one for the board, which struggled with a $1million
salary shortfall and the departure of former director Al Wentzy, who quit
amid questions over staff morale.
Two DSS board members stepped down during that period and new members had to
be named.
This year has been more peaceful in the department. The budget problems were
solved, and a new director, Keith Moon, started in January.
