I don't think Pete's talking about swallowing his pride (killing his ego)
to reunite with The Who...I think he's talking about whatever happens after
we die being a reunion with some entity he chooses not to specify -- he's
not saying what or who it is that we reunite with.  It doesn't hurt,
though, that the sentence puns on the name The Who and can be read as a
(grimly) joking double entendre.
