I don't really think this is a factor. I think your other points have
merit, but I doubt they're going to make an album just to go out on a high
note. I mean, that's what the `82 tour was all about.

I don't know that anyone ever blamed the band, but Townshend's remarks
about having to tell themselves "Fuck it, it doesn't matter, we're bigger
than that" to get through the tour certainly got him in trouble.
