Fwd: Re: Police, Kids Are Alright, Medicine

Hello all

I have a "Laserdisc" player (the size of vinyl).  I have TKAA and the segment for "A Quick One" id the same as the VHS.  For those of you that don't know, you can see the entire song on "The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus", where Jeff Stein took it from.

This discussion is weird because I, too, always thought the middle break
part in Synchronicity (1 or 2, I'm not sure - the one with the "kick in the
crotch" line) sounded WHO-ish.

Just for a few seconds, the song lapses into that evil WHO grind (similar to
the bridge between "Amazing Journey" & 'Sparks" proper). POLICE gettin'
all heavy & shit ! Unfortunately, those few seconds, to me, are the best part
of that album (which sold billions, was played constantly on the radio when
it came out, and a lot of people love). I've been told my taste in rock music
is too narrow. This may or may not be true.

I have an older copy on VHS which *doesn't* have the bonus video, & it's
*still* all chopped up ! This problem is a real puzzler. It's not like the original
version was too long, & needed to be shortened. I always thought I just made
a mistake & bought a cheap version or something.

I remember back in the 80's, a friend of mine had one of those old movie "disc"
players. I'm talking those BIG discs, the size of vinyl records. Anyway, we rented
The Kids Are Alright movie, & I'm sure it was the full-length version.

How can I be sure, you ask? Well, like any budding WHO freak back in the early
80's I needed as much WHO to listen to as possible. So I made an audio cassette
copy of just the sound (obviously) of the entire movie. Dialogue & everything. It
took 1 1/2 cassettes & I still have them. They play fine. Unfortunately movie "disc"
players in the early 80's didn't, so there are a few skips & squibbles hear & there.

Which brings me to my point (finally !). If they released the full-length version back
then, WHY NOT NOW !!!!!!!!
