MSG '79 boot

Hi Everyone,
That post from a few days back about the "jam songs" on the 9/16/79 MSG
bootleg prompted me to dig out my old copy on vinyl and have a listen.  I
haven't listened to that boot for years, and it was like becoming
re-aquatinted with an old friend!  What a smokin' show!  I think that I will
run it through an EQ and make a DAT copy of it.

I have a question for the list (really for anyone who has a copy of the
boot): it sounds like it was recorded a tad fast.  Does anyone else notice
this, or am I imagining things?  My copy has the Time magazine artwork as
the cover.

I was also wondering about the feasibility of spreading some bootlegs around
the list.  I think that there are too many subscribers to organize this in a
tree format, but I think that we could weed out tapes.  We do this on a
digital Phish list that I subscribe to and it works well.  It is pretty
simple.  Someone with a super high quality copy of a show on posts a weed
offer, agreeing to make tapes or CD's for the first three or five people who
respond to the offer (on a 1 for 1 basis.)  The condition is that those
respondents must agree to post a similar offer to the list.  It is a great
way to spread the music for free.  It also saves the fans from buying boots
for exorbitant prices.  All you have to do is send blanks and postage to the
person who posts the weed offer.
