Led Zeppelin

Yesterday - strangely so- Led Zeppelin (overrated; well just not relevant
imo) got discussed on both The Who list and the Peter Hammill (PH) list.
Just thought you'd find it amusing to hear what was posted "there": (VdGG
being Van Der Graaf Generator, Peter Hammill's legendary band).
cheers, Rene

> Also,is it true that PH once auditioned for the New Yardbirds
Fred 'the Ed' Tomsett mentioned this in Pilgrims many moons/
years ago. It turned out to be one of his jokes to fill some empty space in
the mag. Though the audition must have been in July or August 1968 at a
very likely time for PH to attend. Nothing much was happening at the
VdGG camp at the time (the PH, Banton and Judge Smith line-up).
The New Yardbirds changed the name to Led Zeppelin soon after the
audition. I guess we ought to be grateful PH didn't attend, though the
thought of him as the singer of that beast might be rather thrilling to
some...

Not as scary as the thought of Robert Plant leading VDGG :-)
