This Friday will be the 4th annual Air Guitar Championship in Oulu, Finland.
Twelve of the world’s best air guitarists will be competing for the grand prize,
and competing to see who gets some "air clap" from perennial backstage floozie
Pamela DesBarres. 
Contestants will be judged on interpretation, skill and how well they throw
themselves to "the mercy of the music." Many have been able to practice this
skill over the years due to the "mercy of long-suffering parents." 
No one will be allowed to air guitar to any songs by The Who, after last year’s
gory spectacle of a contestant who smashed his hands to pieces against an amp
and then began to rant about being bi. 
Extra points will be awarded to anyone interpreting a Guns N Roses song and then
follows it up with a model-girlfriend shadow box. 
The grand prize is a Fender Stratocaster, although the past few year’s winners
just played with the box it came in. 
Many guys who come in second usually spend the rest of their careers playing air
bass. Sure, it’s not as flashy, but it’s just as creatively fulfilling.
