Word from a Yung'n

 S'up Everybody,

        Regarding the whole WHO-songs-appealing-to-the-un-enlightened-youth
issue, I woulde have to say that all/any of the songs that a person COULD label
as NOVELTY songs (Pictures o' Lily, I'm a Boy, Happy Jack, Boris, Odorono,
etc.)
would definatly have SOME scent of an appeal to the mislead juviniles, based on
the idea that they are all rather amusing. Beyond that, I think there would
be a
few songs that could be appreciated, mainly for their )SOUND( or musical
qualities/ideas, but not for their lyrical content. Many WHO songs that have a
serious base(either in-terms of musical expression, personal/artistic
expression, or just songs based in anger) don't really concide with many of the
songs today in terms of content, and more importantly, in terms of how that
subject is relayed through the music . Though today's music has the same basic
root of it's content as the music of yester year(sex/relationships/love, drugs,
passions, mysticism, blah, blah) the music(more specifically the CULTURE) of
today
is at a more extreme level.
Kids today get their pick of emo-grunge with it's

CONSTANT repetition of distorting any note to unrecognizability and mumbling

what few lyrics(that have no conern for rhythm or rhyming) into yet ANOTHER

device that destorts them further - OR - Industrial/Gothic rock (I'm not

implying that there are any SIMILARITIES between the two, which obviously have

NOTHING in common - distinct pause - yeah right!) which has it's continual one-

toned pumping beat, some dork pounding out the most revolting chords ever
found,

plus vocals that sound like the singer is performing some sexual act upon the

mic. And there's always the infamous GANSTA CRAP (uh, I mean RAP), the crap
they
try to pass of for R&B (give me Otis Redding any day), Heavy Metal(and NO! Led
Zepplin and Hendrix do NOT fall under this catagory), and a multitude of other
musical styles that I disapprove of. (which I can, 'cause these are MY opinions)

        END DIGRESSION

So, as I was saying, some other songs I think could/would appeal
teenagers would probably be Pinball Wizard(it is just an impressive sounding
song), Seeker(Just 'cause o' the distotion, they would just disregard the
lyrics), Behind Blue Eyes(it has this "timeless" kinda thing going for it, I
know people who randomly like JUST that song, interesting) Relay(good synths,
great rhythm and energy), Love Reign O'er Me( for all of those love-song kinda
people) and I think that would basically be it. Oh, I almost forgot, My
Generation and A Quick one, the albums(for all of those punk lovers :-))

All right! Well, I'm tired now after writing all of that. Must be getting
old (yep, I'm almost on the verge of seventeen, almost)

PAX
