UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ via Individual Inc. --
Continuing its ongoing retrospective of the complete recorded output of
The
Who, MCA Records is set to reissue a newly expanded edition of "Odds &
Sods. " The classic 1974 collection of Who rarities has been newly
remixed
and digitally remastered for CD. A virtual feast for Who fans, this new
edition is more than double the number of tracks and length of the
original
(12 bonus cuts and over 75 minutes). Complete with extensive
track-by-track
liner notes by Pete Townshend (first published in the U.K. music
magazine
New Musical Express), and all of the original graphics, "Odds & Sods"
arrives in stores March 10, 1998.

One of the first great rock rarities collections, the Gold-certified
"Odds
& Sods" features 23 tracks spanning ten years in the early history of
The
Who (1964-1974). The album was originally compiled by Who bassist John
Entwistle, who combed through hundreds of hours worth of tape in the
band's
vault to assemble the album. The new edition features nine previously
unreleased tracks, including studio versions of "Summertime Blues,"
"Love
Ain't For Keeping," "Mary Anne With The Shaky Hands," and "Baby Don't
You
Do It," as well as a rare studio version of "Young Man Blues,"
previously
available only on a long deleted 1969 sampler album. Other tracks
include
outtakes from the "Quadrophenia" and "Tommy" sessions ("We Close
Tonight,"
"Cousin Kevin Model Child"), early singles, including the band's very
first
( "I'm the Face"), unreleased studio takes ("My Way"), and rare B-sides
("Water," "Under My Thumb").

The Who -- Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, and original
drummer Keith Moon -- is one of the greatest bands in rock & roll
history.
The release of the rock opera "Tommy" in 1969 proved a watershed event
for
the band, with history judging the piece a timeless work of art, revered
by
generations of music lovers. "Who's Next," from 1971, is often cited as
one
of the premier rock albums of all time, as is 1970's "Live At Leeds."
The
Who's other rock opera, "Quadrophenia" (1973), is similarly regarded as
a
masterpiece. The death of Keith Moon in 1978 ended what had been one of
the
most consistent line-ups in rock history, but the band persevered,
releasing new albums through the early '80's. The Who was inducted into
the
Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990.
