8 string bass

Think of an 8 string bass as you would think of a 12 string guitar.
Same concept,just less strings.
(I used to have one,made by Kramer...
an interesting instrument to be sure...)

Tom Petersen of Cheap Trick used to play a 12 string bass.
I wonder if this was the same concept,adding yet another octave...
