Has anyone else seen a live Quadrophenia CD from the 96 MSG shows?
I just saw one tonight at a local music store and picked it up.
The store clerk called it an Import, but it looks like a bootleg
to me -- for one noone here has mentioned this disc that I've seen,
and secondly, there is no copyright notice on it, or ISBN number
or UPC number, or any catalog number markings of any kind.
The back says that Disc One and Tracks 1-7 of Disc two are from the
July 18 1996 MSG show (and tracks 8-12 of Disc two as demo tracks).
I'm still listening to Disc one, so can't comment on the overall
quality, but it sounds decent to me -- but then I didn't get a chance
to see Quad last year or this, so perhaps that has some influence.
Here is the track list:
Disc 1: Disc 2:
1) I am the Sea / The Real Me 1) Dr. Jimmy
2) Quadrophenia 2) The Rock
3) Cut My Hair 3) Love, Reign O'er Me
4) The Punk Meets The Godfather 4) Behind Blue Eyes
5) I'm One 5) WGFA (Acoustic)
6) The Dirty Jobs 6) Naked Eye
7) Helpless Dancer 7) Substitute
8) Is It In My Head -- -----------
9) I've Had Enough 8) The Real Me
10) 5:15 9) The Dirty Jobs the GF
11) Sea and Sand 10) The Punk Meets the GF
12) Drowned 11) Bell Boy
13) Bell Boy 12) Drowned
The brand on the cover is "Rock Classix" and there is a marking that says
"Pure Soundboard Recordings." Oh, and it was $50.
And I'll see all you San Jose Simon fans next Tuesday at the Agenda Lounge.
I looked back at old digests to find the one that mentioned a pre-show
get together in San Jose, but couldn't find it. No matter, I'm in town
for SuperComputing, so will be at the Convention Center until later in
the evening -- boy was I happy to find that the Agenda is only a block
away (especially after just missing STB in D.C.).
