MONTREAL DETAILS AND DETAILS ABOUT THEWHO.COM!!!!!!!

July 28, 1997 3:30pm
I have started out the day being very excited about the concert
tonight, I have butterflies in my tummy. The concert will start in
about 3 hours, and I will leave my home in an hour to go to the concert
venue only an hour away in Montreal Canada. I have good seats, they are
4th row, but I am not sure where yet, I am praying for center. I am
attending the show with my best friends mothers boyfriend, Michael, and
two fellows that I met from the Who e-mail mailing list Jon Rhien, and
Hecktow. I have never met them before and am excited to meet people
that I have met over the internet for the first time. Hopefully they
will be at the pre-show at the peel pub. Otherwise I will see them at
the show. I am pretty sure that they will recognize me seeing as I am
wearing a High Numbers t-shirt, an extremely rare Who t-shirt. I have
been planning this outfit since I bought the tickets to the show in
April. I have prepared a camera to take to the show with 800 speed Fugi
film, which was highly suggested by the nice people at the photo shop.
My camera does not have a flash, so hopefully the pictures will come out
well, I plan on hiding the camera in a flannel shirt that I am also
bringing to the concert. I hope to have pictures to publish on the
internet as soon as I get back to school in a couple of weeks.
This is going to be my first official Who show. I did see the boys
last year at Madison Square Garden but they weren't officially playing
as The Who then so I have officially never seen The Who.

I just got back from the concert, it was amazing. I must start at the
beginning so this may take a while. I got my ride to Montreal at 5pm we
got there around 6pm, They all decided that they wanted Burger King for
dinner, even though I had expressed EXTREME interest in going to the
pre-show party. I split from the group and went to the party without
them promising to see them at the show. I got there and was immediately
accosted by Stoo and the others who were all quite happy to see me
there. In attendance at the Peel Pub before the show were Bernard,
Stoo, Carla, Jon Rhein, Hecktow, and many other most of them I had never
heard of, but they all knew me. We talked for about 45min before I
headed off for the show with some friends from Plattsburgh, who were
sitting about 10 rows behind me. I got to the show and found my seat
then met my friend who came from Buger King to meet me. We talked for a
couple of minutes then started the opening band which was quite loud and
I found quite annoying, the only thing I remember about them was that
they played a Peter Paul and Mary song, and my parents are huge Peter
Paul and Mary fans so I knew it well, I don't even remember their name.
After they finished I decided that I would explore and find Ken a fellow
that I found out was running the official thewho.com site so that I
could find out what was going on. We talked and from what it looked
like right now, it doesn't look like the site will be happening because
he did not get it up fast enough, too bad for all of us who really
wanted that site up *sad* I found Jon Rhein standing there and found
that he had bought a front row ticket from a scalper and a backstage
pass for after the show (he had originally been sitting in the forth row
with me and my friend. I returned to my seat the she show started soon
after.
The show started and it was wonderful. The energy was EXTREMELY HIGH.
It turns out that I was sitting ahead of a man who was following the
band around, he had seen 17 show so far and he said that this was the
best. He also had backstage passes to all the shows and the previous
morning reportedly had breakfast with Pete. It was also the man's
birthday (more about this later) The show was great as I said, I
noticed Roger disappear after The Real me and come back with what looked
like a cup of tea (cup of tea Doug?) but otherwise he was drinking
bottled water. He wore jeans and a denim shirt with black doc Martians,
(he also didn't seem to be wearing any underwear, and I should know I
was staring at his arse for the most part of the show). Pete wore a
black suit with a green shirt underneath, which seemed to get in the way
a little while he played electric, and blue suede shoes, he also had two
necklaces one was a circle of some sort the other seemed to be the
symbol for the artist formerly called prince, but I am not sure about
this. John wore a gold Jacket and black pants, with his usual boris the
spider necklace on. Simon had a black guitar with a Simon Townshend
Band logo on it, it may also be noted that Pete played 5 different
guitars, two different acoustics, (because a string broke on one) and
three eletrics]], a red one, a white one and a gold one. The show was
great the boys had a lot of energy, the only low part of the show was
when John couldn't get his bass high enough during the bass solo on
5.15, which he mad up for with the rest of the solo.

Highlights include:
1.PJ Prody yelling "I'm the punk with the stutter, TOMMY TOMMY" to Roger
during Punk Meets Godfather.
2. Boris the Spider sitting on to p of Johns amp
3. Bass solo on 5.15 (of course
4. Roger wearing no underwear
5. Sea and Sand
6. The Rock
7. Pete throughing his guitar over his head and catching it
8. Pete saying happy birthday to the man sitting behind me!!!!
9. Pete telling the audience that he would like to fuck us all
10. Pete windmilling on 5.15
11. During Dr. Jimmy Roger taking large amounts of water into his mouth
and spitting it up to hit him and even out to Pete and Simon

Special Points:
1. John snuck off to have a cigarette during Drowned
2. Pete calling Robbit Tommy Hilfiger
3. Pete noticing that Billy Nichols was not Jody Linscot (who was
missed) by expressing that he "did not have tits"
4. The Vespa on the side of the stage!

Encores included:
the band changing clothes:
Won't Get Fooled Again (with only Pete and Roger)
Behind Blue Eyes (I personally cried for my favourite song here)
Substitute
I Can't Explain (the energy, either could the audience)
Who are You (with Roger on Guitar)

The show was amazing the only low points I can express are that Johns
bass solo was not loud enough in the beginning and that the security was
extremely tight, but they didn't mind that I took pictures (which I will
have posted as soon as I get back to college to a scanner) but moving
you seat up at all was absolutely prohibited.

After the show I found another ride home and the friends that I came
with left. I returned to the peel pub to chat about the show, that
people were great a good time was had by all. Stoo got back stage and so
did Bernard and Jon Rhein. All tried to have any sort of contact with
Roger but apparently he is not in a good mood after shows and while all
were mingling he took a glaring glance into the room and went into his
dressing room and closed the door not to be disturbed. Stoo talked to
John, Simon, Rabbit (I think) and all in the Pub were excited to learn
of the adventured had backstage. Especially Me. Now all that is left of
the show is nothing I am sad to report it ended hours ago, but a good
time was had by all, I personally made a lot of new friends (Stoo come
visit me in Plattsburgh some time and we will take out jet skis), (Carla
when I get back to school I will talk to the radio station about the
promo that you want, I w\can probably get Magic Bus for it no
problem!!!)

And now that my stomach has settled down a bit I am off to bed to dream
of Roger N\not wearing any underwear!!!!

Love you all
Emmee

p.s. I personally baught 4 t-shirts (one for s friend who's birthday is
this weekend), a program, a poster signed by John, and a pin, and I am
not offically broke!!!!!
