I can't believe it! Someone else who likes Tommy, the movie. I love it
because its fun.

I might have posted this to this list a while back, but I can't remember. So
I'll do it again.

What I love about Tommy (the movie)

1. The casting - Elton John! Tina Turner! Jack Nicholson sings! So
ludicrous it worked. And Ann-Margaret got an Oscar nomination...along with
Pete.

2. The sets and costumes - Don't you love when they have matching outfits
(like in "Amazing Journey") and it coordinates with the wallpaper? I like
the white satin bedroom set the best when all the beans, chocolate, and suds
spill all over it. Can you believe they actually cleaned it up for a second
take?

3. The Who - Naturally......remember, this was in the days before VCRs, and
the movie was the first time I'd ever seen them perform. That's really THEM
playing "Pinball Wizard". The soundtrack LP is a different recording by Elton
John's band.

4.Other cool stuff - Kieth Moon playing that moving organ with his feet, the
subliminal projection of Frank's face during the skeleton part of "Acid
Queen", I really like the song "TV Studio", the camera jumping in and out at
Tommy's toy car in "Christmas".

I sometimes tell people that they took the album everybody took too seriously
(Tommy), and turned it into a silly movie, and the album nobody took seriously
enough (Quad) and turned it into a serious film.
