Pete on "Sun City"

For those collecting Pete material, if you ever see the 12" single of Artists
United Against Apartheid, "Sun City," [Manhattan V56013], pick it up. This
was Little Steven's project that united over 50 artists from all genres (rock,
rap, jazz, etc.) calling for an entertainment/cultural boycott of South
Africa. The song itself is probably one of the greatest rock protest songs
ever. Ringo and Zak did most of the drumming. The b-side (an instrumental
version) features some smokin' guitar solos by Pete that weren't used on the
single version of the song. Great stuff! also solos by Herbie Hancock on
piano and Clarence Clemmons on sax. Pete is also shown playing and
interviewed in the "making of" video that can still be found in the music
video sections of some video stores. It's worth checking out if you haven't
already.
Enjoy!
Ken

P.S. Also, if you like either Peter Gabriel or Miles Davis (like I do) they
both do variations of the song on the album version that are really cool.
