Re: The Who as an influence

Mark,
The who were a very influential band, but come on--there were
other bands at the time besides the who.

i noticed how you responded to only a segment of my reply, and did not
dispute my other statements.

as much as i love the who, there are hundreds of great bands who have
pioneered new sounds, and may not have been influenced by the who.

hendrix and townshend are uncomparable guitarists. listen to the JHE
Electric Ladyland album and tell me if hendrix sounds at all like
townshend.

hendrix may have caught a who show while in england--he probably did. but
that is a lame justification.

so i guess that what you mean is that after jimi walked out of that who
show, his guitar playing radically changed to conform to townshends sound.
then, i take it that he recruited mitchell because he sounded just like
moon. after all that, he got redding even though he wasn't as good as
entwistle. finally hendrix began a recording career whose albums
parralled the who's. his electrifying live performances also cloned
everything the who ever did, BECAUSE THE WHO IS THE GREATEST INFLUENCE IN
ROCK AND ROLL.

As a matter of fact they are influence to every person on this earth. they
even invented sliced bread. i heard that moon invented fried chicken (he
loved the drumsticks). didn't daltrey invent the light bulb?

listen, i love the who. they are one of the greatest bands of all time,
but geez. . .
