The CMJ New Music Monthly has a similar feature in its record reviews - they
include a notation called "RIYL" ("recommended if you like"), which lists
bands who, in the reviewers' eyes, are similar.  The Who - or more often,
early Who - is used as a benchmark fairly frequently.
