Re: Face Dances and JEFF SchotlandSun Dec 7 13:19:36 PST 1997

I thought Face Dances was fairly flat when I first heard it, its a lyric driven album, not a heavy rock radio album. Then I heard Pete on a radio show explain and talk about the album track by track as they played the album, and I found it to be much more interesting and much better than I had first thought. I think the album is great, but I have a sneaking suspicion it would be even better as a Pete solo album, but then we wouldn't have gotten a chance to hear John's great bass. The only thing that 'holds the album back' would be the drums. I was never a big Kenny Jones fan, but that's just me.
As to Full Sail, I've recorded there on one of the over night student projects. It was okay, there was just no where to get away from the studio, you were either sitting in the recording room, that recording mobile thing, or you were kinda outside... that kinda sucked. Once I was done playing my bass, I was left to hang out being slammed by the other musicians for hours ("Could we try the snare drum again Paul?..") or sitting outside in the dark. Hey a room with a snack machine would have been great... Hope its changed up since I was there! Otherwise, it was a decent experience for the cost and the quality of our demo.
