Re: Lifehouse and Quad demos double CD

Litgo, re:

In NYC, the "going price" for a boot single CD is $20, double, $40. Once you
get out of NYC, anything goes. A local CD store here in the garbage state
charges $35 for singles, $60-$65 for doubles. I supposenick if your willing
to take the "risk" you should be "entitled" to the "reward"?

What's good about this one, is that the "Quad" demos sound the clearest.
Unlike the "Tommy" demos, which are almost perfect (except for that quick
dropout in the "Overture"), the "Quad" demos floating around out there on
tape and CD boot suffer from an "azimuth" problem--that is the highs flow in
and out as someone who apparently had a master to all this, copied them on a
tape deck that wasn't calibrated properly. While it's not as a severe problem
and doesn't get TOO much in the way of enjoying the material, it's still
there on "The Punk Meets The Godfather" and "The Pete Townshend Quadrophenia
Demos" (don't even consider "It's A Quad", that one just <Bashirs> as many of
the knockoff Japanese boots do...)

Anyway, on this one, the "Quad" demos are clearer and have less hiss. The
"Lifehouse" demos are also good quality, but not as "full ranged" as the ones
on "The Lifehouse Demos from the original Acetates". Most people may not pick
up on this, but I'm VERY picky when it comes to sound quality. This boot also
has demos not available on CD elsewhere, such as "Join Together"
(unfortunately not the same sound quality as the rest of the disc) and
"Relay", which was dubbed off of the "Sometimes A Great Notion" LP. The sound
on it is great, but it's an obvious dub that should have been done with more
care... They also "snarfed" a few tracks off of "Scoop", for no good reason.
They would have been better off taking "Drowned" from "The Pete Townshend
Quadrophenia Demos" instead, but...
