First, I believe that, to some degree, DEEP END LIVE was Pete Townshend
Unplugged.

Second, I saw an interview with him sometime last year in which he was asked
if he do an UNPLUGGED special for MTV and he replied something on the lines
of: 
  "Invented unplugged.  I can do what I [Pete's favorite expletive]- 
   ing like with it."

He also remarked that he might kill someone if he heard the neo-accoustic
pathetic version of Eric Clapton's LAYLA once more!
