Re: hello/re: daltrey on disney

Ian:

A few things.........

1) Yes, re: the Roger D. Disney Special, I did mean that, with the exception
of Pete T., no songs were included from the performance which DIDN'T feature
Roger. And BTW, Alice Cooper sang "I'm a Boy" and Lou Reed did "Now And Then"
with David Sandborn on sax and Sinead O'Connor on backups. Terrible version,
too---Lou turned the song from an intricate reflection on the fleeting
nature of love into a Andrew Sisters-style blues romp which became more
monotonous with every excruciating second.

2) Linda Perry's version of "Dr. Jimmy" was included on the "Celebration" CD
just so the record company could boast that the CD had guest stars on it, I
think. In terms of her actual performance, can you say OVERSINGING!?!?!?!?
Can you say No-TALENT loser??!?!?!!? I knew you could. And it seems as if
Linda's gig as Roger's guest has really paid off well, huh?!?!?! End of
Discussion.
"Behind Blue Eyes" was not included on the CD release for one simple reason:
The Chieftains already released a version with Roger on vocals, which can be
found on their 1992 CD, "An Irish Evening". And I agree, Ian: the Chieftains
are wonderful musicians, and their new album "The Long Black Veil" is a
haunting, beautiful work, one of 1995's best releases so far, in my opinion.
It's funny that we're discussing the Chieftains on the list today: they're
going to be performing right here in central N.J. tonight, at the State
Theatre in New Brunswick. In fact, Dave, the drummer in my band, is the
theatre manager there, and he's working at the show tonight.

3) Pete's preamble to "Who Are You" WAS, in my opinion, total bullshit. " I
wish....I wish....I knew what fear was". What did he mean by that?!?!?!?!?
