The buzzing note theory

Hi all,
Although I wouldn't stake my life on it, the Kids version of Happy Jack is
from Leeds the following are my reasons for believing it is. At the end of
the song when Pete says "I saw ya" there is a buzzing of the last note played
by Entwistle (this is caused when you release the pressure off the fret with
your finger while the note is still ringing, yes I play bass). This same
ringing note is on the LIfehouse to Leeds CD version which by the title and
the fact that Shakin All Over and Young Man Blues are obviously from Leeds,
leads (no pun) one to believe that this Happy Jack is also from Leeds. I
also have a tape of acetates (straight off the actual acetates) from the the
Leeds show of all the non-Tommy songs played (sans A Quick One) that aren't
on the original LP. This is not to be confused with a 90m tape passed along
as "Leeds Acetates" a few years back. At some point on the tape Pete says
"its really wonderful to be back in Leeds, I was going to say remember the
last time(responding to Keith?)." On this tape is the same version of Happy
Jack with buzzing note. I also have a audience tape of the 2/14/70 show
(Heaven and Hell through most of My Gen.) which is definately the show used
for the album.

By the sound, the Kids track is obviously from either 1969 or 1970 (compare
to earlier tapes ie Fillmore East 1968, Monterey 6/18/67, etc.). The
difference in sound maybe because in 1969 Pete started using Gibson SG
guitars and HiWatt amps exclusively (until 1972). To my knowledge the band
hasn't played Happy Jack since 1970, except for one chorus of it in
Indianapolis 9/29/82 at the request of a fan (who was holding up a sign that
said play Happy Jack its my birthday). The Who played Sweden in 1966 twice,
1967 and 1972. By sound quality you can eliminate 1966 and '67 and they
didn't play the song in '72.

If anybody else can shed more light on the source of this song please do. Of
course we will get the whole truth on Feb 28.

There are several other mistakes in the booklet for the soundtrack and the
cover of the last edition of the video TKAA. One rule of thumb never trust
what MCA says or does. That is one thing I am positive of.
