VH1 Weekend

Hi All..

Lets see, where do I start...

I was really looking forward to the weekend, but considering
that I already owned most of the stuff played, except for the
Giants Stadium show, and the "Rarities" show itself, I was
a little underwhelmed..

But, loving the Who meant that I would flip on a channel at
anytime and se them perform in one way or another, and that
was pretty cool..The concept of having them on a "national"
channel (tounge in cheeck, I know alot of people dont get VH1
allday, or at all..) was sorta neat..

The "Rarities" show..What was rare ? Certainly not the London
Coliseum shot..That is on WBWB...And most of it was interviewing
Roger and Pete..And whatever else was shown was edited to death.

30 Years hour special was a tease..Its ok if you dont own the
video, but if you did, it wasnt worth taping..( But at least
Richards wasn't in it..Right??) I saw some of the clips from
30 Years (the quadrophenia tour, sorry forgot where it was)
Video that were included in Rarities..

Its hard ( no pun intended) to get juiced for a Who broadcast
from 1989 or whatever, and then have a commercial for a maxi-pad
or shampoo cut in the middle..Just my pet peeve..I mean, lets not
forget who is sponsoring the show..( oh well, I wouldnt want the
weekend to NOT be there, so....)

Like I said, I own the Toronto tape, 30 Years, WBWB, 1989 Tommy,
So alot of it I didnt sit through.

( Someone mentioned that Toronto wasnt that bad..I never thought it
was that bad either, although it seemed as if the motions were all in
place.)

On a side note, what made them add the LROM clip from Shea ? They sounded
awful there..And those Miami Vice clothes ..Oh God...I forgot about the
1982 style of dress...

As far as the Giants Stadium show. First, lets get VH1 to realize that
the CottonBowl was the last show, and that Giants Stadium was the very
near beginning.. I waqs at 3 of the 4 shows at Giants stadium, and what
I heard on VH1 and what I remember are 2 different thngs..There is somethng
about the way they record those shows, that there is no reverb, or audience
clapping, or,I dont know, something is lost inthe translation..

I thought that the show would be bland IF YOU WEREN'T there, luckily I
was, and I enjoy me memories more than that replay..( I was all excited
about watching that though..Too bad it sounded lousy)

As far as the Beach Boys comment.. What the hell were they supposed to do
other than there string of recognizable songs ? We are all familiar with
every single song, and they werent promotng anything new in 1989..
So...I thought I was in heaven..I never thought that I would hear them
live, or attend a concert..I guess we diffr in opinion on that subject.

Oh well, I give VH1 a A for effort...At least they recognized the Who
in these times of Aerosmith, Stones, Clapton//

( How come evrything that Clapton does has to be thrown down or throats?)

Oh Well,

Other Comments as they come to me...

Thanks

Pete
