The Oval '71

Hi everybody,

I just received the latest issue of "Generations"(the Who fanzine).
I don't know exactly if this issue is brand new; I just paid my subscription
a fortnight ago so....

Anyway, there's information in this issue (#12) that the Who recorded
their show at **the Oval '71**. The Who management have also been approached by
someone wanting to sell this recording. Apparently it was recorded on the Pye
mobile 8-track, as was "Live at Leeds", and we all know the quality of the
Leeds tapes, and that they're still in good condition.

The show at the Oval was a legendary performance and should be perfect for
official release.

Having said this, and although "Generations" usually is a reliable source
of information, this could be just a loose rumour and yet another product
of Who fans' whishful thinking.

But, if it's true, it would suddenly seem that quite a few concerts from '71
have been recorded. I know of these:

	* The Young Vic Theatre (April?)
	* The Oval cricket grounds (August or somewhere in the fall)
	* New Orleans, the Warehouse (November?)
	* San Fran. , the Civic Centre (12th December)
	* one BBC broadcast perhaps one of the above
	  or one completely different concert.

Maybe if we ALL look hard enough more professionally recorded tapes will
surface. At any rate, every time a new tape is "discovered", it makes you
wonder how many quality recordings are still out there.

Now to something completely different....

I wrote a letter to Phil Hopkins of Generations (the "Printer") and asked
him to include an article on the "Wholist". He was very interested and wanted
me to write a short article and explain about internet, how to hook up, costs
etc.

So, if you have some information on how to hook up to Internet (in various
countries), what you need (computer wise), how to e-mail, or just about
anything YOU'd want to say to an Internet novice, PLEASE e-mail me directly,
and I'll include it in my article.

I'm grateful for any help I can get.
