You can protect your ears my using ear plugs, I know no fun but anyway there is some good ones out there for those who want to give it a go. Yes John did have 2 hearing aids. Even with them you had to talk loud to him and with out, even much louder. If any one has gone to a JEB concert you know it is very very loud and in a small place. I must say just one night would will blow any one away. You could be out side and still hear it perfect.
